In order to succeed at educating ourselves and the rest of the world about
the story of Stevens County, we need to pick stories that bring out the nature
of our heritage and tell them in a way that enriches our own awareness and
pride, while welcoming the rest of the world to share in the fun.
We need to build a structure that the public can add to personally and
augment each other's stories.
Digital data and media offer new ways to record and distribute documents,
images, stories, oral histories and knowledge with little impact on historical
objects or locations, and comparative little cost. If we can use this new
technology to both preserve our assets, promote our cultural heritage and engage
our neighbors in the process, it will sustain itself.
